Publicou diversos estudos respecto da teoría e da historia do teatro e sobre teoría dramática.
Entre os seus traballos máis salientables compre mencionar: Theories of Theatre (1993), Voltaire and the Theatre of the Eighteenth Century (1998) e The Haunted Stage (2001).
